The device starts scanning for the compatible devices that are near to Chromecast. Up next, open a file from your Windows PC that you want to stream using the Chromecast. It's freeware and it's available for Windows XP SP3 and newer. In my tests on an older PC, I couldn't get video casting to work, however. I mean yeah 1-2 seconds isn't much but I wonder what is different with MPC as with VLC the playback starts almost instantly (no exaggeration). You can also append -help-verbose if you want more detailed help. In regards to casting media, 3.0 can stream to Chromecast devices, even in formats not supported natively. Then select the name of your Chromecast device from the list.
Select Tools and Click the Preferences option. VLC will now search for your Chromecast device.
